Toronto, ON – January 30, 2025 – Kia is set to showcase the all-new EV5 at the Canadian International Auto Show, marking its first public appearance in the country. Exclusive to the Canadian market in North America, the EV5 is Kia’s latest addition to the compact SUV segment, designed to make electric vehicle ownership more accessible by addressing affordability challenges. Blending bold design, a modern and spacious cabin, and the benefits of Kia’s best-selling SUVs, the EV5 is poised to accelerate EV adoption.
"Kia remains committed to breaking barriers in the transition to electric mobility," said David Sherrard, Director of Strategic Planning at Kia Canada. "With the EV5, we’re introducing an affordable, feature-rich option tailored to meet the needs of Canadian drivers in one of the most popular vehicle segments."
Set to arrive in Canadian dealerships in 2026, the EV5 promises an exciting blend of style, innovation, and sustainability.
The EV5 embodies Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, specifically the ‘Bold for Nature’ pillar, which merges natural and human-inspired elements. Its design draws inspiration from Kia’s flagship EV9, featuring a confident stance, sculpted lines, and an eye-catching profile. The signature tiger-face grille and 3D star map lighting ensure a striking road presence, while hidden door handles and alloy wheels (available in 18, 19, and 20 inches) add to its sleek appearance. The EV5 will be available in eight colours, including two new shades: Magma Red and Frost Blue.
Inside, the EV5 offers a blend of sportiness and refined comfort. Soft-touch materials, a minimalist design, and eco-friendly elements—similar to other Kia EVs—enhance the cabin experience. A 30-inch panoramic display serves as the command center for essential functions, while generous passenger space and flat-folding second-row seats maximize comfort and practicality. Storage is also plentiful, with additional space in the front trunk for charging accessories. Mood lighting adds a customizable ambiance, making every journey enjoyable.
The EV5 offers flexibility with two battery options: a standard 60.3 kWh and a long-range 81.4 kWh variant. Customers can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations to suit different driving styles and conditions. With North American Charging Standard (NACS) compatibility, EV5 owners will have access to 61% more DC fast-charging stations across Canada, making long-distance travel more convenient.
